My name is Lauren (she/her) and I offer birth and postnatal doula services in Stamford, Bourne, Peterborough, The Deepings, Grantham, Rutland, Sleaford, and beyond.
I have always been interested in the path we take through pregnancy, birth and parenthood, but it was my own experience of becoming a mum in 2020 that put me on the path towards becoming a birthworker. Navigating pregnancy, birth and early postpartum during a pandemic, when in-person services were suspended and family weren’t allowed to visit, made me realise just how important a strong support network is to women and their families.
Whether you’re welcoming your first baby or your fifth, pregnancy, childbirth and the fourth trimester is a transformative time - usually joyful, often sprinkled with challenges, but always full of choices. I passionately believe that whatever your experience looks like and whatever choices you make, you deserve to know your rights, understand all the options, and have access to unconditional loving care and support on this journey.
Outside of my work as a doula, I’m married to a wonderful (and very patient) man, mum to a vivacious little girl, and wrangler of a sassy tabby cat. I’m an outspoken advocate for informed consent and human rights in the birth room (and everywhere else, for that matter), an active member of the Peterborough and Hinchingbrooke Maternity Voices Partnership, and a voracious reader of everything from murder mysteries to feminist manifestos. I’m also an enthusiastic consumer of baked goods, a wannabe gardener, and an aspiring writer. I'm originally from the South East, but moved to South Lincolnshire in 2014 and now can't imagine living anywhere else.
If you'd like to know more about me, what I do, or how I work then please get in touch.
